One project I was especially delighted to work on this Spring was Basil Twist‘s remount of his iconic “Symphonie Fantastique“. I had been recommended to work on the project at HERE in SoHo without realizing what project it was until I was literally standing next to Mr. Twist himself, someone whose work I have admired for many years! As a bonus, my favorite pianist, Christopher O’Riley, is the one who will be playing Symphonie Fantastique for performances. If you are unfamiliar with O’Riley’s take on Radiohead, go listen to the album immediately, as it is one of the greatest classical/rock crossovers of all time (yes, I do have a signed copy of the score.)
I was a carpenter on the project (first time doing overhire carpentry in a while) and also very happy to work with some other NYC theater friends on the project, Ana Dratz(of the group “Boy Band”) and lighting designer Betsy Chester. Nothing like doing theater with good friends!
You can read another article on the performance here. Performances were just extended through July so don’t miss it!
